Instructions for Free Private Study
The system of Free Private Study at the University of Jordan allows individuals to register under the following categories:
1. Students Currently Enrolled in Higher Education Institutions:
- Studying at universities or higher education institutes within or outside Jordan, desiring to take specific courses at the University of Jordan for one or more semesters.
2. Prospective University of Jordan Students:
- Individuals aspiring to join the University of Jordan in the future.
3. Individuals Seeking to Deepen Specialized Knowledge:
- Intending to enhance their performance and skills in their current jobs or professions.
- Those aiming to enrich their cultural or scientific knowledge.
Registration Procedures and Timelines:
Prospective students interested in Free Private Study should visit the Admission and Registration Unit to complete the registration process during the add/drop period at the beginning of each semester.
Admission Requirements:
1. Must hold the Jordanian General Secondary Education Certificate or its equivalent with a minimum required GPA if applying for undergraduate-level courses.
2. Must hold a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent with a minimum required grade if applying for Master's level courses.
3. Must hold a Master's degree or its equivalent with a minimum required grade if applying for Doctoral level courses.
4. Must have completed the prerequisites for the courses they intend to register for.
5. Availability of vacancies in the desired courses.
- Students enrolled in other universities or higher institutes, excluding the University of Jordan, and those not seeking a degree are exempt from these conditions.
Required Documents:
- A certified copy of the national ID or a certified copy of the birth certificate for Jordanian students.
- A copy of the passport for non-Jordanian students.
- Transcript of the General Secondary Education Certificate or its equivalent, or transcripts for Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degrees, as applicable.
- Proof of enrollment in another university or institute (for students currently enrolled elsewhere in higher education).
Students meeting the above admission requirements receive an official transcript at the end of the semester after paying the transcript fee.
Students who do not meet the admission requirements may register as auditing students, attend lectures only, and are not required to take exams. No official documents will be issued for their grades in these courses.
Students enrolled in Free Private Study are subject to the attendance, examination, grading regulations, and disciplinary provisions outlined in the university's regulations and instructions.
Free Private Study students (Special Students) have access to all university services and facilities and are issued a special university ID for this purpose.
The maximum credit hours for regular semester workload for Free Private Study students (Special Students) are as follows:
1. (18) credit hours if the courses are at the undergraduate level.
2. (9) credit hours if the courses are at the Master's and Doctoral levels.
